Supervisor - Quality Assurance (Food Safety and Quality Assurance)

This position is DAYSHIFT hours from 6am-6pm on a 2/2/3 rotating schedule

What You Will Do

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring timely and effective implementation of all Freshpet’s policies, procedures, and activities involved in assuring the quality of manufactured products. This role maintains close working relationships with other department managers and supervisory personnel in order to meet and maintain product quality, identify, solve and prevent problems affecting product quality, maximize productivity, and comply with regulatory requirements.

• Oversees the quality of products and processes, including raw materials and finished products 
• Ensures that products and processes comply with federal, state, and local regulations 
• Manages quality standards and policies, and measures performance against internal and external standards 
• Ensures that quality assurance programs and procedures are implemented correctly 
• Identifies, solves, and prevents problems that affect product quality 
• Communication: Relays information across departments and works with other department managers 
• Conducts in-house audits 
• Investigates customer complaints 
• Reports data

What You Will Bring

• Bachelor Degree of Science preferably in Food Science or related field (Meat Science, Biology, Microbiology, Food Microbiology, etc.).

• Minimum 5 years of work experience as quality assurance auditor/technician in dietary supplements, food/beverage, pharmaceutical or cosmetic industry

• Minimum one (1) year of experience in a supervisory capacity.

• A good knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices, preferably 21CFR Part 111, and food safety.

• Good understanding of quality testing within the food and beverage industry to include analytical, microbiological and sensory evaluation.

• Must possess a basic understanding of chemical and microbiological analysis and basic math.

• Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office applications) and computer-based applications).

• Other duties as assigned
